A strong squad of 27 lads travelled to Lucton for their first taste of county rugby

Ten lads from Sutton joined their county team mates to play Herefordshire under floodlights hosted by Luctonians RFC.

Forwards Lewis Belton, Louis Hanlan and Luke Reynolds were joined by scrum half Harry Mitcham and inside centre Sam Grimshaw in the starting XV.

From the start GB dominated with the pack and with good ball being well used by the back division it wasn't long before the hosts lines were breached. Old Sils flying winger, Tom O'Hanlon scored first with Sutton's scrum half Harry Mitcham converting to make it 0-7. Bees fly half Noah Heward added a well worked second, and with Sutton's No.8 Luke Reynolds powering through from a penalty to score a third making it 0-17 at the break, Greater Birmingham were in control.

Second half substitutions saw forwards Hugh Mcmenamin, Tyler Bryant and Syakir Saiful take their place in the pack with fly half Alasdair Bell and full back George Creed making it 10 out of ten for the Sutton boys.

A more evenly matched second half saw the home side pinch two tries of their own whilst their fullback seemed to hold back the Brummy tide single handed as wave after wave of attacks fell agonisingly short of the whitewash.

A well deserved win sets the squad on its way with the North Midlands County Festival only three weeks away.
