Just a few words from me to wish all the teams well this Sunday. It is fantastic to have 3 teams representing the club at finals day; a testament to the commitment of the coaches, players and, of course, parents!
I am a big fan of all these teams! I am most closely linked with the U15s given my very own Alfred (Number 2) plays for them. They are a great side now, who have come on very well in the last few years (from an albeit pretty low base!) to become a tough, very competitive team. Ben and his coaches have done brilliantly.
The U14s are coached by my old schoolmate and long-term drinking partner Ben Hillier, ably assisted by Win and Jay (two more I have known since school). I have watched them develop over the years, especially on various tours, and I was privileged to watch a good portion of their semi-final demolition of Shipton-Upon-Stour! Good luck lads.
The U16s don’t need luck—the way they got to Finals Day shows lady luck is smiling all over them. JT and his team are great lads who have developed the team with support from Sandy and Ollie G over the last 2 years. As reigning champs, they have a great shout; but (big BUT) Broadstreet are their bogey team and will fancy themselves for the silverware.
Whatever the results in all games, it is sure to be a great day with 3 coaches and loads more in cars heading over from the Royal Town! Most of all, please remember, although it’s a big occasion, it all boils down to boys playing sport and having fun. Win and lose gracefully, and treat other teams and the officials with respect.
See you there,
Fletch
