SCWRFC Played their first full XV Home game on Sunday against Wolverhampton, and won!

Match Report – 30th November 2014
On Sunday SCRFC ladies hosted their first full 15s home game against Wolverhampton, and it was a tough one! The first half was a fierce battle, with both teams getting close to their own try lines and putting in some big tackles. However a scattered defence from the home team gave Wolverhampton their first try of the game twenty minutes in.

Sutton’s Charlie Byrne took the restarting kick and some quick work by the home team saw the ball turned over in the oppositions twenty-two. More quick hands led to the ball being passed out to Charlie, who with some nice footwork scored Sutton’s first try of the game, with the conversion just falling short.

Coming into the second half with a 5-5 score, Sutton were fearless. Fly-half Georgia Copeland took the restarting kick and Sutton once again quickly turned over the ball. After some more big tackles and scrums, a hard line from Emily Jenkinson led to another try for Sutton, 10-5.

Back to the restart and Wolverhampton kick the ball straight into Hooker, Jess Nallys hands who carries the ball twenty metres before passing it out to Sam Peachy, who steps into the space and passes to winger Frances Meston for a forty meter run and another try. Sutton now have the bug and from the restart Charlie Byrne gets passed the ball and scores her second try of the game.
The time the restarting kick was knocked on by Sutton. Wolverhampton take the turn over and some quick hands out wide leads to their second try in the left hand corner of the pitch, making the score 20-10.

The final play of the game came from Sutton. After some quick hands the ball was passed, once again to Captain Charlie Byrne who gained the ball ten metres from the home sides half way after some quick hands. She once again put in a huge amount of effort and ran past all the home supporters to score the final try of the game. Final score 25-10.
