Sutton stormed to a convincing victory at the home of longstanding opponents Aston Old Eds.who to their credit gave their all till the end of the game

Take a bow-Alex Shaw, Dave Sandford,Tom Foulsham,Ian Wilson, Mark McEvoy,Pete Dale, Jamie Clarke, Mike Clarke, Dom Morphet,Jacob Keeling, Mark Letman,Rab Cooper, Dave Smith, Steve Marshall, Andy Duckworth, Stu McGarragle,Vaughan Brown, Amir Naseri,James King, Tom Burns, Steve Clarke, Ed Moore, Scott Toy!! Hayley Clarke,Ricky Beatles and Mark Cowdrill(the Photographer)
Kicking down the not inconsiderable slope Sutton started strongly, camping deep in Aston's territory so it was a bit of a surprise when they took the lead with a penalty from right in front, slotted over by Mike Clarke.Almost immediately the score was in double figures as McEvoy thundered down the right wing from deep inside his own half for a fine try with the added bonus of not being sick immediately afterwards unlike last week!! Easy conversion for Clarke 10-0 and the men in green were off and flying. With the ball being won in EVERY scrum and being run straight back at Aston, the scoreboard ticked merrily on its way. Further scores from Dale returning to the fold after a long sabbatical latching onto a pass from man of the match Letman,McEvoy again, benefitting from a move initiated by Duckworth inadvertently chesting a perfect backwards pass to Letman!!!! Nazri, who after several elusive runs touched down for a 5 pointer and finally Wilson who managed to stay within the dead ball area to score, unlike earlier in the half, when with all the time in the world, he, inexplicably RAN OVER THE DEAD BALL LINE, costing his team a probable 7 points!!!!
Defending a 34-0 half time lead, Sutton took 15 minutes to escape their half as Aston gave it a real go, repeatedly threatening to breach the green line but resolute defending from all and sundry repelled the attacks and Sutton totally dominated the remaining quarter as they ran in 4 more tries from all over the pitch, the outstanding ones being a flat out sprint up the middle by Naseri for his second and Dave Smith who belied his advancing years to latch onto a Cooper sleight of hand and sprint 60 metres uphill for a fine try!!! The remaining entertainment of the game was supplied by Morphet and Sandford finally registering on the score sheet as he reached the line after several near misses in the last 3 games!! Rare conversions came from the boots of James King(2) and Jamie Clarke(1) to confirm the final score at an eyecatching 62-0,which means fewer points were scored after the half time changes initiated by maestros Toy and Moore!!!!
A special mention to Aston for not giving up in difficult times and keeping going right to the end and the referee who had a fine game.
