Good game.

Sutton Rugby Club welcomed Tamworth 2s to Walmley Road for a much anticipated friendly. Tamworth were met by a cast of thousands as the home team had players scrambling from all sorts of woodwork to play in such a prestige game and for the second Saturday in three the sun shone!!
Sutton were represented by Captain Steve Marshall, Dave Smith for a rare non-cup semi-final or final appearance! Super veteran Andy Duckworth, newby ale loving Dave Bunn, chairman Mao Jim Heywood, Luke Hennessy, Dean Humphreys son of Bumff, Ed Moore, Dean Arsenal 4 Scousers 1 Ginn, Ed Scase, James I’ve got pleurisy Hegarty, Joe magnet touchline Venencia, Tom Foulsam, Old man Simon Davies and boy Tom Davies, Steve Clarke, Rhoss Price, Lewis Snowden, Chris the Duckling Duckworth, Stu the snaffler Mc Garragle, Ollie Green, whose surname I don’t know, Alex Shaw and family, Nathan Burchill, James King, Mark Macca McEvoy, Mr Happy Chev, Josh Teflon Pugh, Ian High Tackle! Wilson, Dave Sandford, Hakeen Douglas and finally last but not least Dan rugby league Banko.
Takworth scored first to take a well deserved lead 7-0. Sutton regrouped and took the upper hand running in a succession of first half tries to lead by 28-7 at half time with the pick of them probably Duckling’s but hopefully he won’t see this report!
Tamworth looked a well beaten team at the commencement of the second stanza but looks are obviously deceptive as they made metre after metre and scored well worked tries to take the score to 28-17 to Sutton.
But as the sun shone so did the glimmering green shades of Sutton shirts as they powered back to run in 20 unanswered points and record ultimately a convincing victory by 48 points to 17.
Alex Shaw scored a fine individual try as did Lewis Snowden and Nathan Burchill who despite numerous attempts at decapitation survived to score a scintillating try under the sticks! I’ve probably missed some try scorers but I think Snowden 2 , Chev 2, Shaw, Duckling, Green and Burchill all crossed the whitewash.
All in all an enjoyable hard fought game with credit to Tamworth for contributing to a good game of rugby the referee on his first appearance as an official and the notable landmark of two pairs of dads and their sons playing for Sutton!!!
Happy Easter to one and all.
