The Sutton Colts remain unbeaten in the league but unfortunately in spite of a great effort last Sunday an understrength Sutton Colts team suffered a rare 21-14 defeat in a friendly fixture away to a numerically stronger Bournville Colts side.

After a challenging first half Sutton trailed 14-7 at the break but unfortunately due to injuries sustained in the first 40 minutes, Sutton were reduced to 14 men for the whole of the second half and it was noted that although their opponents had 7 substitutes on the bench, although this was a 'friendly fixture' there was no sporting offer from Bournville to even up the sides with the loan of a player.

However, 14 man Sutton played on with great spirit and in an entertaining second half each team scored a converted try to bring the score line to 21-14 but with just minutes left to play Sutton were harshly disallowed what appeared to be a perfectly good try, which would have given them the chance to level the scores as a just reward for the effort of the 14 brave lads, who fought hard in the second period against superior numbers and what appeared to be an older Colts side...but well done the Sutton lads, who responded well under the guidance and encouragement of Sutton's Assistant Head Coach Sandy O'Hare.

The Sutton try scorers were first Vinnie Prothero on 25 minutes, followed by Tom O'Toole after 68 minutes and Harry Wheelwright converted both tries to complete the Sutton score sheet.
