There was an air of festive cheer and goodwill as Sutton under-16s travelled to be entertained by Woodrush in South Birmingham. With a number of players unavailable for the home team the visitors kindly offered to provide the services of Jordan Reader, Miles Gregory and Jo Bleasdale and it was Reader who opened the scoring for the hosts pouncing on early uncertainty in the greens defence to touch down in the fifth minute. Stung into action Suttons response was both swift and decisive. First from the re-start winger Jacob Smith finished off a fine move by outpacing the Woodrush defence to score in the right corner. Smith then turned provider setting up scrum half Ollie Hobin and then skipper Nobby Hawkins with well timed passes. And by the 12th minute the contest was over as full back Izaak Miller finished off a fine move from right to left before rounding the defence to score under the posts. Second row Ed Scase then got in on the act following up and providing good support to a rampant green line after which in the next attack prop Ahmarni Roberts-Grey dived over from the foot of a ruck. Three further tries, one from centre Jo Zaric sprinting down the left flank, the second an individual effort from Jack Sanders, and the third from Myles Bean after a decisive break from Zac Tyler, along with five conversions from the right boot of Paolo Parisi sealed an early victory for a dominant Sutton.
