Runaway victory for the U15's

Sutton Coldfield RFC u15s v Pinley RFC u15s

Sutton u15s continued their recent run of good results with a 67 - 5 win against Pinley RFC, in the final match of the pool stages of the Warwickshire Cup. The team scored 11 tries and completely outplayed their much bigger opponents. This result sees Sutton through to the knock-out stages of the Cup competition for the first time, as one of the eight best teams in the county. It was also probably the best that the team has played!
Sutton took control of the game from the very start with Alex Moore catching the kick-off. After a couple of phases of play, Alex was on hand to score the first try in the corner. Henry Nevitt was off target with the tricky conversion from far out. Further first half tries came from King-Jerry Adu (2) and Matt Smith, as well as a penalty try when Alex Moore was tackled off the ball when running though to touch down his own grubber kick. Henry Nevitt converted all three of these scores. Half time score: Sutton Coldfield RFC 38; Pinley RFC 0.
Having made some changes at half-time, Sutton kept up the rate of scoring in the second half. Joe Dean and Matt Smith both scored tries, with Henry Nevitt converting one of them. At 50 – 0, Pinley had a player red carded following a small disagreement between the two teams. The visitors initially reacted better to the loss of a player, and were able to score their only try of the afternoon through a series of strong carries from their big forwards, who crashed over in the corner. The conversion was missed. Sutton then took control of the game again and made their superior numbers count, scoring further tries through James Taylor, Owen Notley, Henry Nevitt and Archie Grimshaw. Henry converted the last of these to take the final score to 67 – 5 to Sutton.
All of the team played exceptionally well, a fact noted and observed by the Pinley coach!
Sutton now await the draw for the knock-out stages of the Warwickshire Cup (matches to be played in January) in good spirit and are well placed for some good games coming up before Christmas, starting with Nuneaton RFC next weekend.
