TEN TRY SUTTON POWER TO VICTORY

The two sides warmed up either end of the pitch, Sutton looking sharp as they ran through the moves. In contrast the home side looked sluggish and disjointed.

This transferred to the game with Sutton's dynamic pack winning almost every scrum and line-out with unerring ease, sheer strength and desire to win saw the home sides pack demolished and demoralised before the end of the first half.

The fast paced backs of the visitors made hay as the sun fleeting shone, through the predominantly cloudy sky.

With the pack over powering Lichfield at every set piece the pressure finally told and the yellow card was brandished to the home sides experienced prop with the visitor already 34-0 to the good.

To avoid uncontested scrums from the start of the second half Sutton agreed to allow the prop back on having only served 2 minutes in the sin bin. This and the uphill slope made absolutely no difference and Sutton carried on with their devastation of Lichfield's beleaguered front eight.

Some sloppy play and a loss of concentration gave the home side a glimmer of hope with five minutes gone but they couldn't capitalise as the Sutton team rallied round and shut out the opposition as they approached the visitors 22.

This instance aside the overwhelming presence of Sutton's second row in the line out, the strength of the front row in the scrum and the confidence of the free running back row set the platform for the backs to execute some excellent running rugby, finishing the game with the home side getting no closer than 15 meters to their try line.
