4 tries for Archie

Sutton Coldfield U14’s V Earlsdon U14’s
Sutton hosted Earlsdon in their second game of the Warwickshire Cup on Sunday 30th September. From kick off Sutton seemed to be a little sleepy as Earlsdon had possession and were heading for our try line with their quick winger. Fortunately for Sutton he dropped the ball on the try line and failed to score, this certainly woke Sutton lads up. Sutton gained possession and after some hard rucks and pick and goes, George Dyche crossed the line for there first. Sutton’s second came when Jack Bates steamed across the line after a great charge through Earlsdons defence. Sutton held strong and completed some great plays with accuracy in passing the ball out wide to Archie Pettigrew who was out on the wing, Archie unleashed his giraffe like legs and carried the ball over the line to score 3 consecutive tries in the first half. James Mann kept his composure to convert 2 of the tries in the first half.
Half time score 29 – 0
With the score line in Sutton’s favour heading into the second half they could not sit back and relax as Earlsdon came out fighting for the game. Sutton continued in their hard play into the second half with Archie Pettigrew crossing the line for his 4th try of the game. Ben Stewart converted the try. Sutton managed to gain possession of the ball again which fell into the hands of Adam Parr, who took it from within his own half on a fantastic run with Earlsdon players hot on his heals to score underneath the posts. Ben Stewart again converted the try. After a fantastic Sutton scrum the ball passed through Sutton hands and ended up in the hands of Liam Southall who charged over the line in the corner to score another for Sutton. Unfortunately due to the angle the conversion was missed. Sutton again maintained their composure into the last 10 minutes of the game, and after some strong running from Jack Bates the off load was given to Hayden Mousley who ran past and through Earlsdons defence to score under the posts. The conversion was scored by Ben Stewart.
The final whistle came Sutton winning 55 – 0.
