The wintery weather conditions made for a challenging mornings play as the whistle blew and the game commenced.

Straight from the off Sutton were on the front foot some good play in the first minutes saw the first scrum go to the visitors, the result was a try for full back George Creed after a strong run from Sam Grimshaw.

This set the tone for the early stages of the half with some good counter play by the home side who disrupted Suttons usual fluency with some tenacious tackling and rucking.

Another set play deep in Suttons own half, saw Luke Reynolds run in a try from the half-way making it 0-10 to Sutton with only 10 minuts gone.

Forest battled hard around the breakdown and scavenged well feeding off Sutton's poor ball handling with several passes going astray and knock-ons a constant thorn in the coaches side. Outside centre Cormac Neville's distribution out of the tackle was a rare light in the gloom.

The first half finish 0-15 another solo try for Inside centre Sam Grimshaw relieving some pressure at the break.

A quick turn round and a change at left back saw Dan Khan replace George Pegg. Sutton Kicked off, Harry Mitcham dropping the ball 15 meters inside the home teams half.

Tyler Bryant supported by Winger Jenson Sharlott and Luke charged the defense forcing a fumble Jenson pouncing on the loose ball before being dragged into touch.

From the line out Forest moved the ball right looking for space between Sutton's back line. Sutton were penalised for an infringment at the breakdown, they charged down the kick from behind the resultant scrum, the ball spiralling free. Luke picked and went down the home sides right wing looking for support all the way eventually conceding possesion when he was over the line - an unusually bad decision.

In the previous melee one of Forests lads had gone down rumours of a dislocated knee circulated bringing to end the game prematurely with only 6 minutes of the second half gone.

A forty minute wait on a soaking wet, cold pitch for the young player, his parents, first aiders and Forest coaches was the final act of the game.

A mish-mash of positives and negatives came out of the game that no doubt will be addressed on Wednesday at training.
