Answer: Boil an egg? run a mile? Would you believe - overwhelm and destroy your opposition into submission?

A performance of extraordinary intensity was witnessed by all who watched the game between Sutton 'A' and Long Buckby, last seasons winners of the Land Rover Premiership cup hosted by Northampton Saints.

The whistle blew for the game to start, Harry Mitcham Kicked off, dropping the ball perfectly on the 10 metres mark. It bounced back toward the on-rushing Sutton forwards, Luke Reynolds took it on the full. At full pace he burst through Buckby's first line of defense dismissing the attempted tackles with familiar ease as he surged toward the try line. A posse of four halted his progress only for him to offload a perfect pop pass to No.8 Louis Hanlan, who in turn, sliced his way through Buckby's back line to register the first points of the game, with less than a minute on the clock.

From the restart a series of tackles by Buckby resulted in their line-out near the halfway. After feeding the first attempt Buckby's hooker threw to the second man, who was duly clattered with a massive hit, by Luke. The ball spilled to the front man in the line, who was instantly tackled by Louis leaving him winded and prone on the floor requiring attention.

The Die was cast; a shell shocked opposition had little or no answer to Sutton's hard tackling defense and fast paced attacking game with Sam Grimshaw claiming his third try of the day making it 10-0 to Sutton in the game.

A tackle count well in the twenties both in defense and attack saw Sutton's dominance complete, every player smashing their opposite number into submission. This was epitomised by Luke Reynolds who's annihilation of his second row opponent, with five bone crunching hits, to the point whereby he walked off the pitch refusing to play. A scene more akin to the carnage of a battle field rather than a rugby pitch prompted the shell shocked Buckby coaches to forfeit the game with only four minutes of the first half gone.

The score may only have been 10-0 when the game was abandoned but the facts don't lie:
1. the game was only four minutes old when stopped,
2. the quality and number of tackles overwhelmed a side with very good pedigree,
3. the confident manner of Sutton's open inter-play between forwards and backs, belied the fact that Sutton hadn't played competitively since well before Christmas prior to this morning.

At home this Sunday to Mkt Bosworth Might be worth a walk over the back pitches if you enjoy your rugby blood-curdling and raw.
