The Under 12’s started their fixtures a week earlier than the other mini age groups with a trip to Stafford to play in their festival. Whilst it was a long dragged out affair the experience will have prepared the group for our regular trip to Old Sills next week to participate in their festival.
At Stafford, we came away undefeated and only conceded one try in the last game against Walsall, when the tallest under 12 I have seen ran through to equalise.
In our earlier games, we had beaten Barton, Burntwood, Old Halesonians and Trentham. The whole squad were utilised in the five games played, with no substitutions during play unless anyone was injured.
On the day we scored 16 tries, with Austin and Reiss – the deadly duo scoring 4 each, Harrison (2) with Fred, Sam, Alfie, Ruari, Ben and Pearce also crossing the line.
Mention must be made of the 4th try in the first game. Following a scrum on the halfway line Reiss picked up and ran round his centres, drawing an opponent before passing to Alfie, two more passes after drawing opponents saw Austin cross over to score – applause all round.
