No-one told the match reporter that it was an early start at Ashby, and he was too old to remember it was the same last year. Eventually though he made it through the parking chaos at the Ashby ground. Having missed much of the action, he gathered information about earlier games via an unsympathetic away following. It transpires that the first game was very tight Ashby winning the early physical battles, their rucking being particularly good. However, gradually Sutton's better handling and movement of the ball saw them win all three games. Mention should be made of Reiss the 2nd. Having been persuaded by his friends at Fairfax School to come and play rugby he scored a fine try and looked very athletic in his play on the wing.
