The first away game of 2019 and Sutton U8’s arrived ready for action and appeared oblivious to the cold, wet and windy conditions presented to them. The Sutton lads started well using great skills as seen in the last part of 2018. An undulating pitch made for some stop and starts and a few injuries to the team and it seems their ‘soles’ (pun intended)
Despite the vast difference in numbers (approx 3:1) thus a higher rate of subs for Nuneaton. Sutton’s stamina didn’t fail to keep strong defensive lines playing a great offensive game with some impressive passes, preempting being tagged!
With some unfortunate missed opportunities from Sutton for getting tags Nuneaton produced some impressive tries to match Sutton’s.
Sutton struggled to pose any real attacking threat in one of the last games given some solid skills of one Nuneaton player in particular (he’s a target for next season!) weaknesses were exploited, however the lads gave it their all working throughout with positive attitudes, unfailing effort, determination and above all good sportsmanship (as ever).
Things to take away: great team work for the attack, more defensive play (tagging)
Well done Sutton!!!
