Sutton U8s vs. Stourbridge U8s
10th Feb 2019
Despite a promise of heavy rain and very cold temperatures the U8’s made their way on the seemingly never ending journey to Stourbridge. Once there they were met with pleasant blue skys and a first time playing on a g4 pitch.
A good extended training session before the matches allowed all to continue to develop their passing skills, and learning to move into positions quickly.
Stourbridge showed themselves to be enthusiastic and organised in their game play. Sutton rose to this challenge well however, and battled hard, creating some positive end to end games. As the games progressed Sutton became more confident in their approach. They started talking to each other a lot more effectively on the pitch, and this helped with both moving forwards and defending.
Although the team has a range of experience and ages, even the youngest were seen to shine during the second and third matches. By then, both coaches were full of praise for all involved, one stating that this was the best he had seen the team play.
Parents were also pleasantly surprised by the lack of boot and kit cleaning due to the pitch!
