It was Aston who started off the stronger threat, turning over a Sutton Line-out within the first three minutes of the game. Several forward drives and errors by the home side saw Aston gain valuable forward momentum in the first quarter of the game and the away side were unlucky to get on the score board. A break by Aston's captain Leah Brown looked promising only scuppered by a tackle made by fullback Charlie Byrne resulting in a knock on. A strong clearance by Alison Livermore gave the home team some breathing space.

From the line-out Aston continued to pile on the pressure, Sutton's forwards responded, strong tackles by Tara Wheeldon and Natalie Kennett ensured Aston were unable to break through. A penalty decision saw Aston with a chance to put points on the board as they chose to shoot for posts, the kick was wide and the home side were granted another life line.

A Sutton scrum gave the opportunity for the home side to attack. The opportunity was taken. Centre Natalie Hall found 17 year old Roisin McBrien on a short line who used her pace to beat Aston's fullback in front of a roaring crowd to score under the posts. Livermore converted.

The home side finally found there rhythm, Sutton's forward pack lead by Athena Jai and Genna Pilling looked strong and after several phases of play, Sutton again found themselves within the oppositions twenty-two.
A scrum was awarded in the home side's favour, a strong drive by Vicky Sullivan and vice captain Emma Clueit saw Sutton retain possession. A well executed backs move saw Livermore find McBrien on a inside ball. The young Sutton centre skipped through a disjointed defence to score her second try of the game. Livermore converted.

In the second half Sutton opted for a more tactical approach, accurate kicking placement by Livermore set up a solid base for Sutton to attack. A set play by sutton's backs saw Hall in space, the centre showed impressive footwork beating two defenders before being bought down by Aston's fullback. Sutton continued to apply the pressure and forced an error by the visiting side. Wheeldon capitalised on the awarded penalty, the prop looked unstoppable as she drove over the line from ten meters out earning her first try of the season.

Aston continued to try and bounce back, this time focusing their efforts on attacking wide only to be hampered by driving tackles from wingers Allwood and Graham stifling any potential threats.

From there Sutton really were on the front foot, again finding themselves with a scrum in the oppositions twenty-two. Another convincing drive against a tiring Aston side gave space for Nally to pick up from the base of the scrum crashing into the Aston line. Further controlled forward play saw the attack within five meters of the line, quick play by scrum half Molly Worthington resulted in the ball being returned back to Nally who dived through the remaining defenders to add another score for the home side. Converted Livermore.

Sutton carried on the pressure, some swift handling by Livermore found the backs in space, McBrien attempted to set up Byrne for a run in only for the pass to be called forward by the referee. However at the resulting scrum Sutton's defensive line cut out Aston's space to attack. Aston's fly half threw a lingering pass which was intercepted by McBrien who dived under the posts to complete her hatrick. Converted Livermore
