The home side dominated possession and territory in the first half and despite coming close on a number of occasions Dudley’s defence proved tough to beat. Sutton eventually found a break through Katie Gregory who shipped the ball wide to 17 year old winger Carla Malek who crossed the line to score her second try in as many appearances. Stand in scrum half Christine McEvoy was next to add her name to the Sutton score sheet. The pack lead by Vicky Sullivan and Abbie Buttery set up the chance, after several strong drives forward, the visiting sides defence faltered allowing the young scrum half to dash for the line.

The second half saw the victorious Sutton side add five more tries to their tally, the first came through vice-captain Emma Clueit who out powered several defenders before crashing over the oppositions try line from five meters out. Con Byrne. Jessica Nally who had now moved into the back line, added a further try following a break from talented second row Genna Pilling, who managed to pop the ball up for Nally.
Captain Charlie Byrne added the third of the half, centre Gregory with the break before fixing her defender and sending the ball wide to find Byrne. The stand in fly half managed to outpace the last defender before crashing over the line for Sutton. The conversion was made by Kerrie-Anne Melsom. A second try for Nally followed, a solid Sutton scrum provided the platform for the home side's attack. Athena Jai now playing at number eight with the pick and go, the young starlet drew the defence in as they struggled to bring the powerful forward to the ground. Quick ball from McEvoy, set up Byrne for the break who managed to pop the ball up for Nally who struck past the final defenders on a hard short line. Con Byrne. Sutton's final try of the day was the result of some impressive forward play by Tara Wheeldon and Mollie Campbell after winning the line-out Sutton found them selves gaining ground, through strong forward drives, within the visiting sides twenty- two. Camped five metres from the try line an impressive pass from Liz Fletcher found Byrne who darted through a gap in the defence to add the final points.

Winger Holly Clothier scored a fine individual consolation try for DK at the death which Leah Haney-Wilcox converted, to leave the final score 41-7 to a Sutton side who, despite wholesale changes from the demolition of Wolverhampton last week, were able to record their 11th win on the spin in all competitions.

The day got even better when news came though that title rivals Cannock had gone down to their 2nd defeat of the campaign losing 14-10 at Aston Old Edwardians, a defeat that with 6 games to go extends the Sutton lead at the top of the table over Cannock to 5 points with both clubs having played 8 games.

A welcome break next week to allow some injured bodies to recover, the week after we entertain Winnington Park Ladies looking to extend our unbeaten record to 12 games, kick off is 2pm.
