John Wheelwright, a former player and parent of a junior member at the club is quite poorly in Good Hope at the moment with cancer. In support of his battle we would like to organise a mass ‘ice bucket challenge’ to benefit MacMillan Cancer Support. This is something John posted to Facebook so being opportunistic, we have jumped on the opportunity to go large with the initiaitive!!

I would like some brave souls amongst you to consider joining a large contingent in the junior section (Mike Mitcham & Ed Moore’s teams) fundraising on Wednesday night (20th August). This will raise money, put a smile on a few faces and leave John with some good memories of a few loons!!

So what is the plan?

MacMillan are currently promoting the ice bucket challenge ... You fill a bucket with water & ice cubes and poor over your head whilst fully clothed! For this pleasure you can also donate to charity by texting ICE to 70550. This will donate £3 to MacMillan. Those of you who don't want to get wet can simply text FINE to 70550 which will donate £10 to MacMillan. We will of course video this and share on Facebook ! Feel free to nominate people after you have done this and they will have 48 hours to take part themselves!

• The plan is to do this on Wednesday night - 20th August – at 7.30-8.00pm

• There will be a supply of ice at the club, along with plenty of cold water – you just need to bring a bucket/container, a phone to text from and a great sense of humour!

• This is likely to take place on the edge of the first team pitch opposite the clubhouse come rain or shine!!

• Bring a towel! Or run around naked to air dry of that is your preference!
