Warm up Win for Sutton

Impressive mid-week warm-up fixture on Weds 21st Aug against Dudley Kingswinford, who play their rugby a league above Sutton in National League 2 (North) but an experimental Sutton squad, including 12 Sutton Colts from last season who all made positive contributions, played superbly to pull off a super 24-17 win!!

Alongside the success of the 1st XV during this pre-season period, Sutton's 3rd and 4th team squads combined to provide Sutton with their first silverware of the new season when they won the Aldridge pre-season 15 a-side tournament, which was held to celebrate the opening of their new clubhouse.

The success in the early competitive games allowed most of the Sutton new season recruits to make an impressive and winning start with their new club. The summer signings who featured in the pre-season games include fly half Josh Rolls plus hooker Jamie Scott and second row David Merlin, who will bring welcome experience to the pack... and together with the Colts who will be moving up to join the senior squad plus the welcome return of open-side flanker Jack Woodcock playing alongside Brook Davies, who has converted from prop to blindside flanker this season with the ever reliable Simon Millard at 8, the new look Sutton back row made a strong contribution
