A game of what ifs!!!!

For the second league game in succession Sutton 3s lost a game which they should have won. For Veseyans away read Camp Hill at home as the away team triumphed 29-19 in a mixed up and random game of rugby that commenced on the second team pitch and finished on the training pitch due to an injury to a Camp Hill player who loomed to have suffered a knock to the head which necessitated the assistance of an ambulance which arrived in record breaking time! Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to the player involved.
Camp Hill kicked off, Sutton dropped the ball again! Scrum, try. Camp Hill 7 Sutton 0, 2 minutes played and the team was still metaphorically in the dressing room preparing for the match!! Somehow the following 15 minutes passed without a Camp Hill try due to stand out defending from Tom Foulsham, Alex Shaw, Matt Morgan, Ed Moore and Chris Duckworth aided and abetted by Dave Sandford, Josh Pugh, Steve Marshall and Mike Ivanovich.
Finally the men in green gained a foothold in the game as Foulsham threatened to score the try to bring the scores level. He didn’t but his break in the 20th minute led to Duckworth scoring by the posts with the same player converting to equalise the score. Shortly afterward the change of pitch was needed and almost immediately Pugh got on the end of a crisp passing move to fly up the right wing to touch down for a fine try. 12-7 as the conversion was missed. Camp Hill replied with a penalty and another soft try for a 12-15 half time score to the away team.
With the slope now in Sutton’s favour the lead was quickly regained with a fine dart and score from Morgan who flew over to the side of the posts, Duckworth converting and a 19-15 lead. That, however was as good as it got because a rash of penalties and a yellow card meant territory was conceded to Camp Hill as they scored the final 2 converted tries of the match to make the final score 29-15 to Camp Hill.
Some good performances already highlighted but a tendency to switch off, let the game drift and patchy availability means a weekly struggle for the team.
Finally, I hope this report isn’t too long for those who don’t like reading much!!!!
