Sutton Coldfield Under 15s Match Report – Sunday 5th October, 2014
Worcester RFC 12 - Sutton Coldfield RFC 44
Three periods of 20 minutes saw a Sutton side defend and then demolish what was reported to be a weakened Worcester side.
Sutton started by absorbing wave after wave of Worcester pressure but within 8 minutes , saw themselves 12 – 0 up playing simple, expansive rugby with wingers, Lawrence Cole (his 1st for 2 years!) and Will Preece running in tries. Preece was to add his second before the end of the first third with Eddie Chitnis succeeding with one conversion making it 17 – 0 to Sutton.
The 2nd 20-minute period saw Sutton and Worcester exchange 2 tries apiece with Matt Green scoring both for Sutton.
The last third proved dominant for Sutton as they continued to run in tries, two from Will Poland and one from Lamaar Lawrence who then went on to convert his own try.
There was some immense work done in defending Sutton’s line and credit must go to a whole team performance and in particular Justin Hurlock, enabling Sutton to record their third successive win this season.
Possibly the only downside to the visit to Worcester was a disappointing lack of catering facilities. Experience from last year enable some “older” stalwarts to locate much needed sustenance from the Junction 6 catering facility. It was reported that Baldock ‘senior’ awarded a significant 9/10 for his large baguette! However, as this was an off-site facility, that score was null and void.
