Under 15's March Onwards In The Cup

North Midlands Cup:
Sutton Coldfield RFC U15 v Hereford RFC U15

It was at the hands of a strong Hereford side that Sutton was humiliated by 50 points to nil in the same competition last year. This was going to be Sutton’s sternest test in a so far undefeated season.

Sutton started strongly and soon made their presence felt when Lemaar Lawrence was able to run in a well worked try to open the scoring. However, Hereford was soon to respond and a converted try saw them take the lead. Sutton then began to dictate play and the last period of the first half saw them dominate both possession and territory. However, they failed to capitalise on this and saw Hereford lead at half time 7 – 5.

Sutton began the 2nd half strongly and Will Poland was able to manoeuvre his way through the Hereford defence to score with Eddie Chitnis converting. Credit to Hereford, they soon responded with an unconverted try to bring the scores level 12 – 12.

The match continued to be closely contested. Frustration of a missed Sutton penalty soon was soon counteracted by Lamaar scoring his second try in the corner. Eddie Chitnis then slotted over a penalty and Will Poland ran in his second try which was duly converted by Chitnis to seal a deservedly significant victory for Sutton, winning by 27 points to 12.
