Sunday 15th March 2015 – Under 15s
Sutton Coldfield RFC v Lichfield RFC
Notwithstanding a number of key Sutton players out with injury, they were up against a strong Lichfield side determined to revenge a Sutton win earlier in the season. However, Lichfield were soon to go 7 points down as the outstanding Matt Price ran in an excellently worked try for Sutton and duly converted by Eddie Chitnis. Lichfield exerted pressure and was rewarded with two unconverted tries and by half time and Sutton found themselves 10 – 7 down.
The second half saw Lichfield continue to pressure but it was late into the half when Sutton eventually crossed Lichfield’s line as Matt Green ran in a well-executed try to lead 12 – 10. However, Lichfield stepped up to the mark and their pressure resulted in a converted try to finish winners 17 – 12.
Although disappointed, Sutton was more than a match for their opposition but, Lichfield’s teamwork, organisation and decision making enabled them to run out deserved winners on the day. Sutton’s failure to make the most of their possession was key to their third loss of the season.
