U15's Run Cheshire Cup Champions Close

Sutton entertained Lymm this Sunday and for long periods of the game, ran the defending Cheshire Cup Champions close. In a physical first half, Lymm broke the deadlock on 15 minutes when they managed to outflank the home defense and score an unconverted try in the corner. Sutton responded well and their makeshift back line created several opportunities which they were unable to convert. As half time approached, a clearance kick from the Lymm fly half was taken on half way by the returning Will Poland and he mesmerised the away defence with a scintillating run eventually scoring beat the posts. The conversion was kicked by Chitnis and Sutton went in at half time, 7 - 5 up.
The second half was a similar affair and Sutton defended doggedly until the 44th minute when a concerted Lymm forward drive proved too much and a forward spun off the ruck to score a converted try. Unfortunately for Sutton, a lack of concentration saw a quick line out thrown directly to the Lymm winger and he raced in from 50 metres for a further converted try. Sutton weren't going to lie down however and a break from Sutton fly half Chitnis created space behind the Lymm defence and his offload was taken by Will Preece who ran in. The conversion was missed but with only 5 minutes left, Sutton found themselves 12-19 down with all to play for. Lyme showed their class however and closed the game out with a further two tries as they took full advantage of a tiring home side. A final scoreline of 12-29 didn't do justice to the Sutton performance but Lymm were worthy winners.
