Following last weeks demolition of local rivals Bromsgrove, Sutton U15's, played host to a somewhat depleted Nottingham Corsairs side.
The writing was on the wall from the start with Sutton running in 6 unanswered scores in the first half, the visitors struggling to gain a foothold in the competition. Sutton's strength and speed up front created the platform for the exciting running play of the backs, pulling the visiting team from side to side increasing the pressure as the half ground on.
Top quality interchanges between the forwards and the backs kept the opposition on the back foot, Nottingham rarely crossing the Sutton 10 metre line throughout the first half.
More of the same after the break made it a very long day for the away side, with Sutton running in another 7 try's before the visitors made any impression with a solitary score ten minutes from time.
Despite all the positives from last week's & today's performance (team and individual), a major worry is the lack of a kicker who can consistently provide the extra two points. Maybe not a concern when looking at the scoring performances of the last two weeks but can & will be a factor when we meet tougher quality opponents when two points will decide the outcome of the result.
All-in-all a terrific performance from the boys, pressuring the visitors from the first to last whistle not allowing them the time to settle and put any phases together.
The next game is Derby away on the 1st November, I challenge someone to take the bull by the horns and make the kicking their own.
Wednesday night training is your first chance.
