Sutton Coldfield RFC Women's Development side took on Fiveways Development at home on Sunday 28th Oct in a thrilling encounter, which saw two more players make their debut for the local side.

Sutton Coldfield Women who's first XV are undefeated this season showed the depth and quality within this growing squad, Kristy Bunn who started at hooker was straight into the action putting in some cracking hits against a well drilled opposition, Tara Wheeldon ever present in Sutton's squads was able to capitalise turning the ball over and sending number eight Athena Jai off with ball in hand. The Sutton starlet who is usually seen in the second row tore through the visitors defence before crashing over the line.

However the visitors who were sporting many new players of their own in this fixture hit back. Strong running lines by the pack saw Rhiannon Watkins on the break who crashed over the line for Fiveways in the tenth minute.

Sutton's fresh faced line up held their own in the middle of the park, Eleanor Brend who was playing her first ever game after watching her son play in the junior section, supported in the row by Genna Pilling, got stuck in making tackles and carries all the field. It was Jai who again took opportunity of Sutton's possession finishing off a superb run by diving under the posts to score. Conversion made by Charlie Byrne.

Fellow debutant Kim Tsiga had a superb game at fullback, normally used to playing American Football the speedster showed her strength with ball in hand beating off several defenders into Sutton's half before striding into the oppositions twenty-two. With several homeside players in support, Tsiga managed to offload to young scrum half Christine McEvoy who finished off the try. Con Byrne.

By the second half Sutton's scrum lead by Sophie Ferriman and Tara Wheeldon was starting to dominate, producing a solid platform from which Sutton Women could generate attacks, wingers Ella Friar and Becca Hood were unlucky to also get there names on the score sheet but drove the attack forward with some strong runs out wide. McEvoy showed the form which saw her award player of the match gathering a loose ball, McEvoy weaved through the oppositions defence in effortless style before scoring in the corner for Sutton's final try of the game!
